QUALITY - a non-negotiable commitment for ORBIT TVET College

Obtaining SABS accreditation is not only viewed as something to boast about to external parties, but a real tool that enhances the quality of Client Service at ORBIT TVET College.

The adoption of quality management system was a strategic decision by ORBIT TVET College. The design and implementation of the College's management system, is influenced by its varying needs, its particular objectives, the services it provides, the processes it employs and it's size and organisational structures.

The International Standard can be used by internal and external parties, including certification bodies, to assess the College's ability to meet customer needs, statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to the service, and the College's own requirements.

The effectiveness of the ISO system being implemented depends on a number of factors, the most significant of which are:

• Commitment of Senior Management

• How well the ISO system integrated into current business  practice

• How well the ISO system focuses on improving the customer
   experience
• How well the auditor finds and communicates areas of
  improvement

Conformance to the Quality Policy is very critical and this is the responsibility of all ORBIT TVET College staff. Not only will this inform the College ISO 9001:2015 certification, but it also informs the quality of service delivery. Continuous review and updating of the system is essential and it will assist to identify gaps and grey areas for improvement. Management's commitment to support the usage of the system is also crucial.

SABS Auditors conduct surveillance audits annually to ensure compliance to the ISO 9001 standard. Every three years, SABS conducts a re-certification audit to determine if the College still meets the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard and is deserving of the ISO Certificate. The re-certification audit against the new ISO 9001: 2015 standard took place in January 2018.  The College was successfully certified ISO 9001: 2015 compliant in April 2018.
